Awakening's Founder: California Needs a Fuller Continuum on Homelessness, Addiction, and Recovery

Awakening's Co-Founder and Executive Director David van der Velde has written a new article arguing that California's homelessness debate is too often trapped in false either/or choices when what's actually needed is a continuum honest enough to meet people where they are.

Drawing on data, state policy, and his own experience and work with others at Awakening, David makes the case that for many people, a roof alone isn't enough — and that long-term recovery housing deserves a much clearer place in California's response.
